About the Project

Launched in 2018 with support from the Mellon Foundation, the Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowship program recognized the vital contributions of community college faculty to higher education and the humanities. Over four competition cycles, it supported 110 faculty members from 61 institutions, amplifying the research and teaching expertise of scholars often underrepresented in national fellowships. Designed with flexibility, the program provided resources for research, teaching innovations, and community engagement, while addressing the unique challenges faced by two-year-college faculty. This volume documents those conditions and celebrates the innovative approaches of fellows whose work enriches students, communities, and the broader academic landscape.
